Opportunities abound to mingle with other residents in New Westminster this weekend. We're continuing with our popular feature, The Record's Top Five (or More) Things to Do This Weekend.

Here are our offerings for the March 8 to 10 weekend.

1 Join the city in crowning this year's Miss New Westminster Ambassador, when the pageant takes to the Massey Theatre stage on Saturday, March 9. Tickets, which are $15 for the pageant and $45 for the pageant and reception, are available through the Massey Ticket Centre at 604-521-5050 or [email protected].

2 Get deals and help local kids at the same time at the KidSport New West used sports equipment sale. Proceeds will go to KidSport New West, which provides grants to help local kids play organized sports. The sale takes place on Sunday, March 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Massey gym at New Westminster Secondary School, 835 Eighth St.

3 Treat yourself to the Strings and Cream Tea event at Queens Avenue United Church. The event takes place on Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at 529 Queens Ave. Tickets must

be purchased in advance as they won't be available at the door. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students and $15 for children and are available by calling 604-522-1606.

4 Enjoy a spin around the ice at Moody Park Arena. Public skates are offered every Saturday from 1: 30 to 3 p.m. and every Sunday from 1: 15 to 4: 15 p.m. A family skate is held on Saturdays from 6: 30 to 8 p.m., while an adult skate takes place on Sundays from 8 to 9: 30 p.m. Moody Park Arena is located at 701 Eighth Ave.

5 Drop by the New Westminster Museum and check out the latest exhibit: Hot off the Press: Printing in New Westminster. Admission to the exhibit is by donation. The exhibit runs until Sunday, April 28 at 302 Royal Ave.

The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
