1 Get saucy and hit the dance floor at Hyack Square for the weekly Dancing in the Square event. This week's dance features salsa.

Drop by Hyack Square, which is located at the foot of Eighth Street at Columbia Street, where dance instructors will show you some moves on Friday, July 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. The event is weather permitting, so check www. dancewithmenewwest.com on the day of the event to see if it's happening.

2 Support some newcomers who will be showcasing their entrepreneurial endeavours at Make it-Sell it, which is being held on Saturday, July 28 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sapperton Pensioners Hall at 318 Keary St.

Members of the African community, minority women and newcomers will be showcasing some of their entrepreneurial efforts - and you'll get the chance to buy products ranging from clothing to crafts to food. Admission is free.

3 Check out the Wonders of Learning: The Hundred Languages of Children exhibit from Reggio Emilia in Italy. The exhibit, which is the exhibit's first Canadian stay, will help you better understand the powerful learning that occurs in the early childhood years. The exhibit is at River Market, 810 Quayside Dr.

4 Get crafty at the Samson V Maritime Museum, which is having a family drop-in on Friday, Aug. 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. Located on the Fraser River in front of River Market, the Samson V is having a family dropin every Friday afternoon in July and August, where families can try out a different nautical craft. Admission is by donation.

5 Enjoy a free swim at Hume Park pool every Saturday and Sunday. The pool is open from 1: 15 to 7: 55 p.m. daily on goodweather days. Make a day of it and bring along a picnic and enjoy a walk along the Brunette-Fraser trail.
