What do you think of the new middle school?
I’m impressed, like in the basement there’s not many windows and it gets a lot of light. I don’t know how. The artificial light is really good. If you look in the gym, there’s hardly any windows, but it’s really bright. It’s nice.
I like the outside, too. It’s almost got a little bit of heritage flair to it. The materials are not heritage but … the colour for sure.

What do you think of the new middle school?
It’s nice and spacious. … It was worth the wait.
What are your first impressions?
(Qayqayt elementary) was nice, but then you see this and it’s like oooh OK. Our kids are just so lucky to go to both new schools. They used to go there (Qayqayt), and now they’re here and eventually, the new secondary school.

What do you think of the new school?
We just got here, it’s pretty good. It’s quite a bit bigger than the last school – we went to Kelvin. It’s a big change. … From our tiny school to this, it’s a big change.
I went to (New Westminster Secondary School) and this is amazing compared to NWSS. There’s no water buckets and leaks from the ceiling yet.
What are you looking forward to this school year?
I’m not sure. Hopefully some improvement in grades, that would be nice.

It’s much bigger and nicer, cleaner.

What do you think of the new school?
I like it. It’s fancy. I’m glad he’ll have a locker this year, because he’ll have somewhere to put his stuff instead of the little cubby hole in the desk.
What are you looking forward to this school year?
I’m looking forward to (my son) doing the hill walk every day.

What do you think of the new school?
I like it. I was part of the first year the new Burnaby South was open, so it kind of reminds me of that. I like the open classes, you can see into the classes.

I think it’s beautiful. I love how bright it is and open.
Do you think that makes a difference?
Yes, I think natural light and views of green are very important to learning.
Was it what you expected?
I think it’s better than expected. It’s so lovely, I didn’t know what to expect.
There’s still some work being done, are you concerned about that?
Not a bit. I have great confidence that they’re doing what they need to do.
