Chris Dale captured this video of a bear swimming the Squamish River estuary on Friday morning.

Black bears are a common sight along this particular stretch of the river, more so as the salmon begin running and they hang around to capture this food source. The less-predictable grizzlies are known to frequent this river system (one charged a kayaker last month), but are rarely seen near the estuary which is basically right in the town of Squamish itself.

The coho salmon are just about to start making their way up, and the chum will be close on their heels, and locals are likely to see more bears in the coming weeks and months.
