The public will soon learn the fate of a teen accused of killing a Surrey youth in December 2013 near the 22nd Street SkyTrain station.

Karim Meskine was attacked with a baseball bat while walking near the 22nd Street SkyTrain station on the evening of Dec. 17, 2013. He was found unconscious and rushed to the hospital, but he never regained consciousness and died three days later.

The four-week trial wrapped up earlier this month in B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster, and the judge’s decision is expected to be read in court on Thursday, June 30 at 10 a.m.

Meskine’s alleged killer, who is a New Westminster resident who cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act because he was 16 years old at the time of incident, was charged with second-degree murder shortly after the attack. When the trial began on April 11, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge against him, instead, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
