A suspect wanted for a string of sexual assaults earlier this month has been arrested.
Following a plea to the public for help identifying a suspect who had allegedly committed three sexual assaults, New Westminster police reported on Friday the suspect had been identified and was now in police custody.
On July 7, three separate women reported to police that they had been approached from behind by an unknown man who proceeded to grab their buttocks before running away without saying anything, according to a media release from the New Westminster police.
The incidents happened between about 4:10 and 4:40 p.m. in downtown New Westminster.
These may not be the first incidents in the area. New Westminster police’s major crime unit is working with Transit police, who are investigating a similar incident, in both “nature and location,” that happened on July 4, the release stated.
