New Westminster Mayor Wayne Wright's two-level, two-bedroom apartment is being offered at a cool $1,099,000.

"It's absolutely gorgeous ... each door in that place is $1,000. It was taken right down to the studs. It's absolutely stunning," Realtor Patti Goss says describing the opulent interior that includes an elegant white piano. (Goss is selling the property along with local Realtor Dave Vallee.)

The property has been on the market for about six weeks and has had about three or four private showings as well as a brokers' open house. Goss is showing it again this weekend to interested buyers.

One of the marketing angles she is focusing on is the fact that the property would cost three times as much if it were for sale in Vancouver.

The 2,100-square-foot condo has two decks, two bathrooms, two parking spots and is located near the river at the Tiffany Shores building. It seems no opulent detail is overlooked in this renovated contemporary condo.

Wright owns another condo at the Quay in a building located beside the condo he is currently selling. Once the Tiffany Shores condo sells, Wright and his partner Enza Messina will move back to the other Quayside condo, which he’s owned for about 20 years.

The Quayisde condo is decorated with Messina’s touch. The Sydney native is a real estate agent, designer and developer in her home country.

“She takes properties and renovates them and elevates them in value,” Wright explains.  “In our particular case, I wanted to do that for the city and show people that can have this for less than they can anyplace else, and it’s just as beautiful as any place else with views of the river and great buildings, … and now I can go back to my little digs (next door).”

Wright says it took more than a year to renovate the condo, and they used local people to do the work, including builder Nils Fogstrom.
