Police are searching for a man suspected of stealing mail from three different apartment buildings in the city last week.

According to New Westminster police, the suspect broke into three buildings, including 500 Royal Ave., 612 Sixth St. and 855 McBride Blvd., between 8 and 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 19. He was able to pry open each bank of mailboxes, taking with him the contents of each box.

Investigators recovered video footage of the suspect and are hoping someone in the city recognizes him.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man between 25 to 30 years old. He is six feet tall with a thin build and short, light brown hair. He also has a mole on his left cheek.

“This is another reminder to check and empty your mailbox everyday,” Sgt. Chad Johnston, spokesperson for the New Westminster police, said in a media release.  “We’d like to encourage people to take the time to empty mailboxes each day to help prevent mail theft and the possible consequences that come with it.”

Anyone with information or who may recognize the suspect is asked to contact Const. Graham Bosa at 604-525-5411.
