It's the last weekend before Labour Day weekend, so be sure to get out there and enjoy yourself. We're continuing with our popular feature - our staff's Top 5 (Or More) Things To Do This Weekend. This Aug. 24 to 26 weekend, we have:
1 Release your inner Dancing Queen and head to Massey Theatre for Abra Cadabra - A Tribute to the Music and Magic of ABBA. The show takes place on Friday, Aug. 24 at 7: 30. Tickets are $30 plus service charges and are available at 604-521-5050 or online at www.masseytheatre.com.
2 Get out and hear two time Juno award winner Steve Dawson perform at Concerts on the Quay on Sunday, Aug. 26 from 2 to 5 p.m. He'll take to the stage on the boardwalk between River Market and Fraser River Discovery Centre. In addition to his own music, Dawson has produced albums for the likes of Jim Byrnes, Kelly Joe Phelps and the Sojourners.
3 Spend some time with man's best friend (and there will be lots of them) at Doggy Fun Day, which features all kinds of fun contests, dog-related displays and performances by dancing dogs. Doggy Fun Day takes place on Sunday, Aug. 26 from noon to 3 p.m. at Queen's Park's south field (the one above the off-leash dog area and near First Street).
4 Kick up your heels and enjoy the final night of Dancing in the Square. Dance the night away in Hyack Square in downtown New Westminster. Learn some moves form dance instructors starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24 and then test out your new moves until 9 p.m. This week's event features a swing wrap-up party. 5 Take the kids to the Queen's Park Petting Farm - before it closes for the season. The farm, located next to the playground, is home to an assortment of animals including goats, pigs, chickens and peacocks. The farm, which has been open since Victoria Day, closes on Labour Day.
