THEATRE WORKSHOP

If you have stars in your eyes and a dream in your heart of making it big on stage, a new workshop next weekend might be a good place to be.

The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the academy, 209-615 Eighth St., New Westminster.

Acting director Ryan Mooney and music director Vashti Fairbairn will offer information and training tips to aspiring and working actors of all levels and experience.

COMEDY ON STAGE

Satisfy a craving for some live theatre next month at the Bernie Legge Theatre in Queen's Park.

The Vagabond Players present Ned Durango Comes to Big Oak, a comedy by Norm Foster, from Oct. 4 to 27, Thursday to Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

The play revolves around the little town of Big Oak, which finds itself in financial trouble. To solve the problem, the townsfolk decide an infusion of tourism and new investment is needed to get it on its feet. They hire Ned Durango, an aging TV cowboy star as the grand marshal of their tomato festival parade, but he doesn't turn out to be what they expect. Thrills, hilarity and romance unfold as the preparations for the festival get underway. Don't miss this hilarious comedy directed by award-winning director Dale Kelly and starring Isabel Mendenhall as the beleaguered mayor who has to cope with all the chaos.

Tickets are $15, or $13 for seniors and students. For reservations, call 604521-0412 or email reserva [email protected] to book online.
