There's an app for that

Residents can report potholes or other issues with a smartphone click

New Westminster residents who spot a pothole or graffiti - or any other issue needing the city's attention - can report issues with a click on their smartphones.

The City of New Westminster has just launched the See Click Fix mobile app, which allows people to report non-emergency issues with their phones.

"We are excited to offer an additional way for residents to be involved in their city," said Mayor Wayne Wright. "City staff are looking forward to interacting with citizens through the See Click Fix mobile app and working with them to improve our city."

The See Click Fix app can be downloaded for free in the app stores for iPhone and Android users.

The free app allows community members to report issues by choosing a category to report, taking a photo of it and providing any other relevant details. Because the mobile app tags the specific location of the issue through the phones' global positioning system, it's easy for staff to respond. Reports can also be made through the city's website (www.newwestcity.ca) and the city's Facebook page.

PACKED HOUSE IN THE 'BORO

New Westminster city council meetings aren't usually well attended unless there's a contentious issue on the agenda - but that's not the case in Queensborough.

Council held its Sept. 9 regular meeting at Queensborough Community Centre. A standing room only crowd filled the Poplar Island room.

"I think we should be making it an annual event," Coun. Jonathan Cote told The Record about the meeting in Queensborough. "Clearly there was a pent-up demand."
