MAKING A POINT

Four players reached double figures in the New Westminster Hyacks 6440 win over Point Grey in varsity high school girls' basketball on Dec. 4.

Meriam Ali and Camille Sangalang both had a team-high 12 points. Hannah De Vos and Lauren Denusik added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

In juvenile girls' hoops, Zoe Roberts and Emma Forgie scored eight points apiece in New West's 4022 over Point Grey.

SHARING SILVER

Anita Cirillo of the Shasta Trampoline Club shared in a silver medal with Canadian teammates Samantha Sendel and Samantha Smith in the team competition at the Pan Am trampoline championships in Mexico.

DOUBLING UP

Amonda Francis posted a pair of double-doubles in a weekend split between the top three women's basketball teams in the PacWest.

Francis scored a game-high 21 points and 13 rebounds in the Douglas College Royals' 65-58 win over Quest University last Friday. Francis added 12 points and 10 boards in a narrow 60-55 loss to unbeaten Capilano University the following night.

BLAZERS DOUSED

Kirsten Fox's Royal City Curling Club rink went to two event finals but failed to earn a berth into the Scotties B.C. women' curling championships.

Fox lost 4-3 to Pat Sanders of Juan de Fuca in the B final. The Fox rink was also edged 65 in 10 ends by Simone Groundwater of Williams Lake in the final of the C event at the B.C. women's No. 2 playdown at the North Shore Winter Club last Saturday.

Last month, Royal City's Marilou Richter qualified for the provincials, winning the A event over Patti Knezevic of Prince George at the first playdown in Vernon.
