While most of us probably need little excuse to go pie shopping on a weekend, here’s a reason to do just that. Burnaby-based pie shop The Pie Hole — home of the award-winning blueberry goat cheese basil pie — has an ongoing fundraiser to support the New Westminster Secondary School 2023 dry grad.

As part of the fundraiser, when you order from their curated list of pies, which includes bestsellers such as butter pecan, lemon meringue and chicken pot pie, 25 per cent of the sales go towards jazzing up the grad event for New West students.

Previously, these pies have successfully raised funds for Coquitlam-based Lindbjerg Academy of Performing Arts, B.C. Children’s Hospital and Coquitlam Minor Hockey.

And now, they are being whipped up to support the NWSS dry grad.

The pie store, which opened in 2011, has been featured on Food Network’s popular television show, Guy Fieri’s Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. In season 29 of the show, Fieri is "floored" by the store’s raspberry cream crumble pie — a top-seller that's available as part of the campaign.

Also listed on the fundraiser page are their award-winning pies such as the blueberry goat cheese basil and "to die for banana cream," and vegan options such as the vegan apple, chocolate hazelnut cream and the Moroccan chickpea pies.

While you ponder on whether to pick a sweet or savoury, frozen or fresh, raspberry or banana cream pie — be warned, making a decision might not be as easy as pie.

Saturday, May 6, is the last day to place in your order for the fundraiser. Pickup is on Saturday, May 13, between 12 and 6 p.m. at the Pie Hole, 7832 Sixth St., Burnaby. Visit the Pie Hole website for details.
