Word to the wise: Students at Herbert Spencer Elementary, grades one and two students in Ms. Deitcher's class, used their "words" to share how they feel about bullying. The school's mantra is "Be a buddy, not a bully," and it will celebrate Pink Shirt Day, an anti-bullying event held annually. The day began after a 2007 incident in a Nova Scotia high school that captured national attention. Some Grade 12 boys heard that a new student was being taunted for wearing a pink polo shirt to school. The boys went out and bought 50 pink shirts and wore them to school the next day to show their opposition to the bullying.submitted
