The Arts Council of New Westminster is inviting everyone to join them in celebrating the arts, bidding farewell to their executive director — and raising money for the arts while they’re at it.

The arts council is holding Strive Drive Thrive For the Arts, a fundraiser and celebration, on Thursday, June 30 at Centennial Lodge in Queen’s Park.

The evening will recognize the departure of executive director Stephen O’Shea, who’s been at the helm of the arts council since 2015. Laura Grady, currently the program manager, steps into the executive director’s role as of July 1.

Everyone’s invited to mix and mingle with the arts council leadership, staff, board and other arts lovers at next week’s fundraiser. There will be live music, a silent auction, an art sale and more, and a limited number of tickets will be available.

The fun runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $35, including one drink ticket and light refreshments, available through Eventbrite.

The arts council is also hosting an online art auction, running until July 8, featuring pieces donated by artists from across the community. All proceeds will benefit arts programming in New Westminster.

“The mission of ‘Bringing Community Together Through the Arts’ drives the organization, and the Arts Council of New Westminster is moving forward into a new era of engaging, fostering, supporting and promoting arts for all age groups, cultures and Indigenous community members,” the group says in a press release.
