Spring in New West: Warmer, wetter weather ahead

We could finally see some double-digit temperatures later this week.

The daffodils in Glenbrook Ravine are heralding the arrival of spring — but we still have a bit of cold weather ahead in New West.

It may be April, but there's still some cold weather in store for New West today and tomorrow.

If you're tired of the chilly mornings, though, there's good news ahead for later in the week.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. It's just 2 C in New West right now (as of 8:30 a.m.), and this afternoon's temperature is expected to climb to 9 C — while feeling like just 7 C, according to the Weather Network. Overnight, we could see some foggy patches and a low of 0 C.

Tuesday is set to kick off in similar fashion, with a morning temperature of 3 C (feels like 1 C) and an afternoon high of 9 C, with chance of a shower.

Wednesday warms up a little, with a high of 9 C and a nighttime low of 5 C, as the skies turn cloudy with some sunny breaks.

The rain comes in earnest on Thursday, when we could see as much as 25 mm of the wet stuff and a high of 7 C that feels more like 5 C.

After that, the Weather Network says we should see some double-digit temperatures again, with a high of 10 C on Friday, with the chance of a shower; 12 C on a mainly cloudy Saturday; 13 C on Sunday, with light rain; and as high as 15 C to kick off next week, when it's again supposed to be cloudy with showers.

So perhaps the Easter Bunny won't get too cold after all — but he may want an umbrella.
