Santa and Mrs. Claus showed up to MP Peter Julian's virtual Christmas party.

On Saturday afternoon, New Westminster-Burnaby MP Peter Julian hosted a virtual Christmas celebration on Zoom for his constituents.

Special guests include Santa and Mrs. Claus (Jim and Lindy McQueen) from the North Pole, Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley and New Westminster Coun. Patrick Johnstone, provincial MLAs and ministers, including Anne Kang, Janet Routledge, Raj Chouhan, Jennifer Whiteside and Amandeep Singh from Burnaby and New Westminster and many constituents from the riding.

Burnaby’s Robert and Sandy Stewart from local band Rainshadow and New Westminster’s former owners of Java Jazz Cafe, Salvacion and Ed Dayao, performed live Christmas music for the celebration.

When asked if he was allowed to have cookies and milk this year, Santa said, “according to the public health advisory, I am not allowed to. But you and your family can still leave me a note by the tree.”

“In previous years, over 600 guests attended my Christmas celebration in a local school gym,” said Juliana. “Many of my constituents were disappointed that this year’s celebration needed to be cancelled. That’s why we decided to host the party virtually through Zoom. We hope to use this party to cheer the community up in the midst of the pandemic.”
