Russia has put all three of the local MPs on a “blacklist” over their support for Ukraine after it was invaded.

The list means that Burnaby North-Seymour MP Terry Beech, Burnaby South MP Jagmeet Singh and New Westminster-Burnaby MP Peter Julian have been banned from entering Russia – likely forever.

Julian was cited because of his strong stand on human rights and his criticism of the brutality of the Putin regime.

“I stand with the people of Ukraine who are being bombed and murdered by the pathological dictator Vladimir Putin. This ban is a result of my standing with Ukrainians who are subject to unimaginable brutality. I look forward to the day when the invasion is driven back and peace comes and a democratic, peaceful Russia emerges from the dictatorship. I will be more than pleased to travel to Russia at that future time,” stated Julian.

The three were part of a list of 313 Canadians, including Members of Parliament, Cabinet Ministers, federal party leaders, and other prominent Canadians.

“It has come to my attention that Putin has banned me from Russia for opposing his imperialist war,” tweeted Singh, who is also leader of the federal NDP. “Here is my message to Putin the tyrant. Stop the war. Leave Ukraine.”
