The doors will be wide open to the city's art hot spots next weekend when the annual New Westminster Cultural Crawl is held on Aug. 13 and 14.

Throughout this month, cities around B.C. celebrate local artists with events, exhibitions and demonstrations for the public.

For this year's local Crawl, nearly 30 studios, galleries, homes and public presentations will display the artistic talents of the Royal City. Most events take place over the weekend, but other activities will be held this week leading up to the celebration.

The event covers a wide variety of mediums, from traditional watercolours and acrylics, modern art, photography and even artisan crafts, including locally made furniture.

There are also a number of events in which local residents can get involved, including a poetry reading and open mic, and an English garden tea party.

Local studios and businesses involved include the Gabor Gasztonyi Studio, Kirkley Carswell Art Furniture, Heritage Grill, Irving House, the Arts Council Gallery, the Van Dop Gallery and Freeflow Scenics Studio to name just a few.

For more information, see this year's New Westminster Cultural Crawl website at http: //newwestcul turalcrawl.com. The event has been held annually for eight years.
