Two local poets who are part of World Poetry New Westminster are being honoured for their work. Jacqueline Maire has been selected as the World Poetry Lifetime Achievement Award winner for 2012.

Two local poets who are part of World Poetry New Westminster are being honoured for their work.

Jacqueline Maire has been selected as the World Poetry Lifetime Achievement Award winner for 2012.

She will be honoured in September during a ceremony that will celebrate the life of Chief Dan George and the 11th anniversary of World Poetry. The celebration will be held at Vancouver Public Library's central branch in downtown Vancouver.

World Poetry founder and host Alejandro Mujica-Olea is also being honoured. He has been selected as the poet laureate for the 100th anniversary of Saint Thomas Anglican Church.

He is also going on tour to various conferences and representing World Poetry, New Westminster and Canada in Venezuela and Chile.
