Surrey-bound motorists trying to access the Pattullo Bridge tomorrow night will be redirected to Columbia Street because the Royal Avenue on-ramp will be off-limits.
A notice from the Pattullo Bridge replacement project states that Fraser Crossing Partners will be installing an improved crosswalk beacon at the Royal Avenue on-ramp pedestrian crossing.
“This new beacon will improve visibility for drivers and provide a safer crossing for pedestrians and cyclists,” said the notice.
To complete this work, the Royal Avenue on-ramp leading to the Pattullo Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29 until 5 a.m. on Friday, March 1.
According to the notice, an additional closure of the Royal Avenue on-ramp may be required on Friday, March 1 to complete the installation.
While this access point to the Pattullo Bridge is closed to traffic, drivers will be directed to use the Columbia Street loop ramp via McBride Boulevard.
Currently, Front Street is closed to vehicles because of work related to the Pattullo Bridge replacement project.
The one-month full road closure of Front Street, which began on Feb. 21, prohibits traffic on Front Street between Begbie and East Columbia streets. Access to Front Street businesses is still available via the Front Street Mews and Frontage Road.
