More detours are coming to Royal Avenue as part of the Pattullo Bridge replacement project.
Similar to the recent nighttime detours on Sept. 15 and 17, the Royal Avenue on-ramp and southbound bridge connector will be closed temporarily between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. so Fraser Crossing Partners can conduct utility investigation work. The closures are on Thursday, Sept. 22, Friday, Sept. 23 and Sunday, Sept. 25
“The on-ramp closure and the bridge connector closure will not occur at the same time,” said a notice about the closure. “Drivers impacted by each closure will be directed to use the Columbia Street loop-ramp via McBride Boulevard … Detour signage will be in place.”
According to the project team, a small amount of hydrovaccing and saw cutting work may be required and will be undertaken as soon as the closures are implemented to minimize local noise impacts. A short period of noise is expected.
The Pattullo Bridge replacement project includes construction of a new four-lane bridge that will include modern, wider lanes, separated by a centre median barrier, as well as dedicated walking and cycling lanes on both sides of the bridge that are separated from traffic by a barrier. The new bridge is scheduled to open in 2024.
