New Westminster resident Danil Banilevici and his wife are now $1-million richer.

When Danii Banilevici told his wife they had become millionaires, she didn't believe him.

The New Westminster resident stopped at a gas station when he decided to scan his ticket — and he couldn't believe what he saw.

He then went back to his vehicle to tell his wife that the ticket was a $1-million winner.

Banilevici said he doesn't call his wife at work very often, so she originally thought it was about him getting a speeding ticket.

"I was most excited to share the news with my wife. I told her I have to tell her something — I won the lottery!," he said in a news release.

"She didn’t believe me when I told her I won $1 million."

Banilevici said he plans to take his family on vacation to a "tropical destination" and hopes to buy a home.

“I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I feel relaxed, at ease.”

The winning ticket was purchased at a Shell Select gas station on 200 Street and 86 Avenue in Langley.
