Here are a few to entice and intrigue.

Canada: Still Life by Louise Penny introduces Inspector Armand Gamache in a delightful series that's set in Quebec's Eastern townships and blends the English and French cultures.

Asia: Red Mandarin Dress by Xiaolong Qiu. In the third mystery featuring Chen Cao of the Shanghai police, Chen tracks the city's first serial killer.

South America: A Window in Copacabana by Luiz Alfredo Garcia-Roza. While Inspector Espinosa is hunting a cop killer in Rio, the death of a dead cop's mistress poses another puzzle.

Europe: The Boy in the Suitcase by Lene Kaaberbol. Hardworking Copenhagen nurse, Nina, does a favour for a friend and finds a drugged, live boy in a suitcase and a murderer on her trail.

North America: The Rope by Nevada Barr. This prequel to her popular Anna Pigeon series takes fans to the early days before Anna became a tough-as-nails park ranger.

Australia: Kittyhawk Down by Garry Disher. The once-peaceful beach resort of Bushrangers Bay near Melbourne is the site of multiple crimes including murder. Homicide Squad Inspector Hal Challis of the Mornington Peninsula Police Force and his staff investigate and piece together the connections.
