RCMP close Surrey border crossing due to anti-vaccine mandate trucker convoy

The protest comes a week after 16 were arrested at the same border crossing

Surrey RCMP have taken the "preventative measure" to stop all access to the Pacific Highway Border Crossing due to an ongoing protest.

Police were conducting vehicle check stops and diverting some non-local vehicles according to an earlier release this morning. As a protesters with a trucker convoy made its way to the 176th Street crossing RCMP made the decision to close the route off to all traffic from 8th Avenue according to the most recent release.

"The public are advised to use alternate border crossings during this service disruption until further notice," the release states. "Police are continually monitoring the latest information about potential protest activity, including a number of vehicle convoys travelling to the area."

This protest comes a week after 16 protesters were arrested at the same border crossing for mischief and intimidation.
