Queensborough residents are being warned not to leave belongings in their vehicles after a recent rash of thefts.

The New Westminster Police Department has issued a warning about an increase in theft from autos. Throughout the month of July, there has been a total of 11 theft from autos reported to police in Queensborough.

“We cannot emphasize enough: please remove all valuables from your vehicle,” Staff Sgt. Stu Jette said in a press release. “Don’t give thieves the chance. Take into your home all belongings including any laptops, headphones, phone chargers or spare change. Anything can tempt a thief, and when that happens, it takes seconds for them to smash a window and flee with your property.”

Drivers are also reminded to lock all car windows and doors and to park in secure, well-lit areas.

Anyone who has information about the recent thefts or who can help to identify a suspect is asked to call the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
