Provincial politics at Philosophers' Café

Is it time for a brand new political party in British Columbia? This is the question up for discussion at this week's Philosophers' Café event at The Network Hub.

Is it time for a brand new political party in British Columbia?

This is the question up for discussion at this week's Philosophers' Café event at The Network Hub.

The open forum is held monthly for locals to come together to discuss pre-selected topics.

With the upcoming provincial election set for May 14, moderator Mike Shields said he felt this would be a timely subject to cover this Thursday.

It's not a forum for a political debate, however. "Most of the people who come aren't overtly partisan, or, at least, they don't present themselves as such in this forum," he said. "We're not out to prove any points here; we're more or less for the question rather than coming to an answer that we're all going to vote for the 'X' party."

Everyone is welcome to attend the free event, where between 15 and 40 people will engage in conversation.

Philosophers' Café events are held every fourth Thursday of the month at The Network Hub Lounge, 205810 Quayside Dr. in New Westminster. The sessions run from 7 to 9 p.m.
