Pothole repairs are taking place on the Pattullo Bridge on May 9 and 10, so the crossing will be open to single-direction traffic overnight.

Motorists travelling between New West and Surrey will encounter single-lane traffic in the coming days as TransLink repairs potholes on the Pattullo Bridge.

The bridge will only be open to single-direction traffic overnight on Sunday, May 8 and Monday, May 9 between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The southbound lane (heading toward Surrey) will be closed on Sunday night and the northbound lane (heading toward New Westminster) will be closed on Monday night.

“Lanes travelling in the opposite direction of the closures will remain open. The lane closures are necessary to accommodate pothole repairs, while ensuring the safety of workers and motorists on the bridge," said a TransLink media advisory. “The bridge will remain open to pedestrians, cyclists, and first responders in both directions at all times.”

TransLink said the repair work is part of its ongoing efforts to ensure the Pattullo Bridge remains in a state of good repair until its replacement is completed in 2024.

TransLink is encouraging Pattullo Bridge users to take the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges as alternatives during the lane closures.

N19 NightBus trips will be rerouted over the Queensborough and Alex Fraser bridges during the closures. Affected customers are being advised to plan for an additional 30 minutes of travel time.
