Port Royal developer makes good on $100,000 pledge

Aragon Development Corporation has fulfilled a promise made to the City of New Westminster.

Aragon recently presented the city with the voluntary amenity contribution of $100,000, which was pledged as part of its development of a portion of the Port Royal development. The date of the contribution had been set to coincide with the issuance of the building permit for a 22-storey highrise with 164 apartment units.

According to city staff, Aragon has now taken out its building permit for Lot 5 in Port Royal. In December, Aragon owner Lenny Moy presented the city with a cheque for $100,000 towards establishment of an early childhood development hub in Queensborough.

John Stark, the city's senior social planner, said four projects will benefit from the amenity contribution.
