New Westminster police are speaking with police departments throughout the Lower Mainland this week after responding to reports of shots fired near the 22nd Street bus loop.

Early Saturday morning, police received reports of shots fired in the area of the 22nd Street station on Seventh Avenue. When officers arrived, they couldn’t locate any victims and no injuries were reported. Witnesses at the scene told police they’d heard sounds of gunfire, according to a media release from the police department.

Later that day, officers returned to the scene to speak with more witnesses, the release added.

At this time no victims have come forward.

Police are now speaking with investigators from neighbouring police departments to determine whether or not the reported shots fired are connected to recent shootings in other Metro Vancouver cities.
