Philosophers' Café hosts B.C. provincial politics forum

Is it time for a brand new political party in British Columbia? This is the question up for lively discussion at this weeks Philosophers Café event at The Network Hub in New Westminster.

Is it time for a brand new political party in British Columbia?

This is the question up for lively discussion at this weeks Philosophers Café event at The Network Hub in New Westminster.

The open forum is held monthly for locals to come together to engage in discussions about a variety of pre-selected topics.

With the upcoming provincial election set for May 14, moderator Mike Shields said he felt this would be a timely subject to cover this Thursday, March 21.

Its not a forum for a political debate, however.

Most of the people who come arent overtly partisan, or, at least, they dont present themselves as such in this forum, he said. Were not out to prove any points here; were more or less for the question rather than coming to an answer that were all going to vote for the X party.

Everyone is welcome to attend the free event at which between 15 and 40 people will engage in stimulating conversation.

The monthly meet-ups cover a broad range of topics and are intended to bring together local residents, students and experts for informal public conversations and the passionate exchange of ideas, according to the Simon Fraser University Philosophers Café web page.

Philosophers Café events are held every fourth Thursday of the month at The Network Hub Lounge, 205810 Quayside Dr. in New Westminster.

The sessions run from 7 to 9 p.m.
