The Pattullo Bridge is closing for a second time, this weekend, for maintenance and repairs.

Starting at 9 p.m. on Friday (tomorrow) TransLink is closing the bridge for repairs until 3 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, according to a media release.

"The closures will allow crews to repair sections of the concrete deck and re-pave portions of the 76-year-old bridge. TransLink will also take the opportunity to review the condition of the bridge driving surface and make improvements as necessary," states the release.

The repairs, however, will not address any structural problems, including the narrow lanes or lack of barriers, and will only focus on improving road safety and the longevity of the 76-year-old bridge, according to TransLink.

The City of New Westminster will also be taking the opportunity to repair some of the pavement along the Royal Avenue area affected by the closure as well as inspect the Royal Avenue overpass at McBride Boulevard, according to the release.

The closures will affect the N19 nightbus, which will be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges, and the 321 bus, which will end at Scott Road on Sunday morning.

This is the second of three weekends TransLink will be closing the Pattullo Bridge, the first was July 19 to 21 and the final weekend will be Aug. 23 to 25.
