Residents living near New Westminster Secondary School can expect some road closures this week to make space for the installation of a water main to the new school.
Periodic closures are scheduled to start on Wednesday (tomorrow) and are expected to last about three days, according to a notice issued by the New Westminster school district.
Crews working on the new high school, which is being built on the former site of the skate park next to Mercer Stadium, will be connecting a new water main line to an existing line located under the Massey Theatre driveway, according to the district.
The new line will travel from Sixth Street through the construction site to Massey Theatre. During construction, part of one lane on Sixth Street will be closed along with the periodic closure of the west sidewalk along Sixth.
Crews will also be blocking off about 23 parking stalls on Sixth Street, 15 to the east of the construction site and another eight to the west.
Work will completed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and there will be a traffic control person on site during those hours.
