Opinion: Reckless driver hits two vehicles after going 'into oncoming traffic' on Burnaby-New West border

I’m stunned following the recent antics of some reckless drivers in Burnaby.

First, there was a driver on Thursday who somehow managed to not kill anyone despite driving into oncoming traffic.

Burnaby RCMP detailed the incident in which a truck entered Burnaby driving into oncoming traffic north bound on McBride Boulevard. The driver hit two vehicles and a tree at 10th Avenue on the border with New Westminster.

Luckily, there were “no major injuries,” according to police.

This followed a blitz this week by Burnaby traffic enforcement police officer involving increased roadchecks.

Officers found six drivers without a valid licence, two drivers driving while prohibited, one being handed an indefinite prohibition and 21 defective vehicles (21!).

A total of 43 tickets were handed out by police.

As always, I urge drivers to take more care to save lives and save you money in tickets.
