Operation Red Nose will be returning to Burnaby and New Westminster roads in 2021.

After being parked last year due to COVID-19, Operation Red Nose will be operational in Burnaby and New Westminster this coming holiday season.

The two cities are included in only a handful of comminutes that will be participating this year in B.C. which will also include the Tri-Cities and Kamloops.

"2021 marks the return of Operation Red Nose on the road with a safe ride campaign that will provide British Colombians with one more option to get home safe! Operation Red Nose shows its determination and great capacity to adapt to new situations," Executive Director at the national Operation Red Nose office Anne-Marie Audet says in a news release.

"We are happy to see that the local organizations who will take part this year are enthusiastic and ready to make the campaign a successful one, once again."

Operation Red Nose, a safe-ride home program, says each local organization made its decision to offer the program per their situation and capacity to comply with current sanity requirements amid the pandemic.

Full details are expected to be released when the campaign officially begins Nov. 2, 2021.

"Until then, Operation Red Nose will closely follow the situation as it evolves and will comply with required sanitary measures during the campaign," the release adds.

At the end of each campaign, donations raised are directed to projects related to youth and amateur sports in local communities.

Donations in Burnaby will go to KidSport Burnaby while funds raised in New Westminster will be given to KidSport New West.

Services will be offered between Nov. 26, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2021.
