Murrell reclaims and restyles vintage furniture. She also works with lighting fixtures as well.

"My lighting pieces are all one of-a-kind," Murrell said in a press release. "I can look at a vintage household item and know exactly how it will look as a lighting fixture with an industrial edge."

Murrell likes the Old World look.

"I took several faux painting courses at Benjamin Moore in Vancouver and transformed my apartment with Venetian plaster, gold and silver leaf, crackle mediums and trompe l'oeil," she said in the release. "My neighbors were always stopping by to see what I was working on next."

Murrell is having two open house events to showcase Robyn's Vintage Nest.

The first is on Sunday, May 20, and then the following week - on the same day as the annual New Westminster Heritage Homes Tour and Tea - on Sunday, May 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 402 First St.

NEW NAME

Speaking of the River Market, the team who took over the Crab Shop have fished up a new name for the eatery.

They are calling it Fathom Seafood, said an email from co-owner Michael Kaisaris.

"A fathom is a measure of length or depth used by mariners," he wrote. "It is about the length of a man's outstretched arms - six feet.

"It's been going fabulously," Kaisaris said. "We've been super busy, every day has been busier than the last."

The new Fathom Seafood owners are also opening the Re-Up BBQ eatery at the market.

They expect the barbecue joint to open its doors within the next two weeks. Re-Up will be located near Fathom Seafood and will offer southern-style barbecue.
