New Westminster's Matt Hewitt will be vying for the starting goaltender's position with the University of British Columbia varsity hockey team this fall.
The former Regina Pats rookie of the year played three seasons in the Western Hockey League, posting a career 3.23 goals against average, a .901 save percentage and six shutouts. Last season, Hewitt was named the club's unsung hero and most popular player.
"He brings character, leadership, and an excellent work ethic to UBC," said Tbirds head coach Milan Dragicevic.
