"Friday The 13th (1980)" and "Hocus Pocus" will be screened at Landmark Cinemas in New Westminster from Oct. 13 to 19, 2023.

Do you dare to watch Friday The 13th on Friday, Oct. 13?

The classic horror film from 1980 that breathed life into the Jason Voorhees saga will be screened at Landmark Cinemas in New Westminster as part of the theatre's Halloween week.

From Oct. 13 to 19, local movie-goers munch on popcorn can experience the heebee-geebees of the iconic character for just $6.99.

It's part of the theatre's "Halloween at the Movies" campaign to unofficially kickstart spooky season in the city.

As well, Hocus Pocus, the beloved (perhaps more family-friendly) October film by Disney, will be playing during the same week at the same price.

Friday The 13th stars a young Kevin Bacon and Betsy Palmer as two of several teenage counsellors at Camp Crystal Lake, which is stalked by a mysterious unknown killer.

Despite its divided praise and criticism, the independent slasher film made $59.8 million worldwide.

Hocus Pocus follows the Sanderson sisters, a trio of comedic witches played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy.

The 1993 movie is arguably one of the most memorable and re-watchable Halloween classics, and it recently got a sequel in 2022.

Landmark Cinemas is located at 390-800 Carnarvon St., train level at the New Westminster SkyTrain Station.
