Overall, the police department’s top brass took home more than $1 million in pay last year plus an additional $33,730 in expenses. Deputy Chief Const. Up until 2006, the City of New Westminster’s statement of financial information included members of the New Westminster Police Department. The department was excluded from the annual report over concerns safety for undercover officers and because the Police Act supersedes the Financial Information Act, the city was able to make the change.
