New Westminster Police are investigating after a woman had her purse snatched in broad daylight downtown on Thursday.
Police say the woman was walking on Front Street mid-day when two men grabbed her purse and ran off.
Acting Sgt. Bruce Carrie said the only description of the suspects is that they are in their mid-20s.
The woman was checked over by paramedics after the incident, Carrie said.
Carrie said resident should exercise caution, even during the daytime, when on public streets.
"Always be aware of your surroundings and people around you so you can get a sense for your well-being," he said. "Be alert and sure of yourself."
Carrie also recommended avoiding isolated areas, only carrying purses or bags that have release mechanisms on the straps to prevent injury in the event of theft and not carrying valuable or hard to replace items in a purse.
"I always recommend that they take valuable things such as important documents and cash and have them in a pocket or money belt," he said. "Make up or other items of lesser importance that may be stolen will not cause as much grief as losing important documents and cash."
