New Westminster woman struck Monday night dies in hospital

A New Westminster woman struck by a vehicle Monday night at Sixth Street and Sixth Avenue has died. The 25-year-old female suffered major skull fractures, a broken pelvis and broken tibia when she was hit by a vehicle around 10:30 p.m.

A New Westminster woman struck by a vehicle Monday night at Sixth Street and Sixth Avenue has died.

The 25-year-old female suffered major skull fractures, a broken pelvis and broken tibia when she was hit by a vehicle around 10:30 p.m. March 11, according to a New Westminster Police Department press release.

The details of the accident are still under investigation and the NWPD have no further information to provide at this time.

Sgt. Diana McDaniel said it's believed the victim died sometime late last night or early this morning.

It's still believed heavy rain and artificial lighting from the streetlights were a factor in the accident.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
