New Westminster Police have sent a local man via "Con Air" to Calgary where he has been wanted by police since 2003.

New Westminster Police have sent a local man via "Con Air" to Calgary where he has been wanted by police since 2003.

The man had several run-ins with the law in New Westminster in recent months, including some violent incidents, according to a police press release.

"These encounters were escalating in nature and have involved a Starbucks Robbery, violent unprovoked attacks against police officers on two occasions, as well as other incidents," said Sgt. Bruce Carrie in a press release.

A deeper investigation into the man by New Westminster Police's criminal intelligence unit found he was wanted in Calgary for breach of probation.

Gary Wayne Templeton, 44, was flown back to Calgary, escorted by law enforcement, on Aug. 24.

"The New Westminster Police Service will continue to pursue, arrest, and return fugitives from justice wanted in other provinces who pose a risk to any citizens of this city," Carrie said in the release.
