One man has been arrested following an alleged daytime bank robbery on Tuesday.
According to New Westminster Police Service acting Sgt. Bruce Carrie, the suspect
entered a Bank of Nova Scotia and committed the robbery around 3 p.m.
Staff at the bank alerted an off-duty Transit Police member, who called 911 and pursued
the suspect. The off-duty offier was then able to provide New Westminster police with a
valuable description of the man and his direction of travel, allowing New Westminster
Police to locate and arrest the suspect without incident.
Cash taken in the heist was recovered during a search of the suspect, Carrie said in a
press release. The man was scheduled to appear in New Westminster court Wednesday
morning.
