New Westminster swimmer wins silver at Synchro Canada's national qualifier championships in Calgary

The event is the largest synchronized swimming competition in Canadian history.

The Aquasonics 13-to-15 national stream team, coached by Tanya Magee and Suzanna Goddard, also had a banner performance.

The team improved from 14th place in the figure competition to eighth place following the preliminary round event with a score of 65.401, earning them a spot in the final.

Earlier this week, the Aquasonics national stream combo team, including Sarah Mcateer, placed sixth in the combo final with a score of 72.880. Erin Williams of Surrey also finished sixth in the senior FINA technical solo.

The B.C. Aquasonics is British Columbia's oldest, largest, and most successful synchronized swimming club. The Aquasonics have produced all but one Team Canada athlete from the province of B.C., all of the Olympic team synchronized swimmers from B.C., and two Olympic Team coaches.

Training in Coquitlam and Surrey, the Club currently has its largest membership in over a decade with over 100 athletes, aged six to 20, in introductory, recreational and competitive streams.
