Four members of the New Westminster Police Service's major crime unit are conducting the independent investigation into an incident in Terrace where a man in police custody sustained a head injury. On Friday, April 21, at approximately 6 p.m.

Four members of the New Westminster Police Service's major crime unit are conducting the independent investigation into an incident in Terrace where a man in police custody sustained a head injury.

On Friday, April 21, at approximately 6 p.m., Terrace RCMP responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver. RCMP members arrested a 47-year-old man and took him into custody.

While in police custody, the man had to be physically restrained by the police. He suffered a head injury and was taken to the local hospital three times during the night.

Doctors then determined that the man be transported to the Royal Columbian Hospital medical care.

According to the latest report from police on Monday morning, the man is listed in serious, but not critical condition.
