New Westminster police are investigating a "disturbing" phone call made to the department's non-emergency line on Sunday.
According to a media release, at 8:17 a.m. on Sept. 1, a dispatcher at New Westminster's non-emergency line answered a call from a man who would not identify himself, claiming he wanted to kidnap and hold a woman captive against her will. The identity of the woman, who police determined lives in the same neighbourhood as the caller, also remains unknown at this time.
According to police, they are unable confirm whether the threat was real or not without the identity of the man who called. Investigators have, however, determined the following information from the phone call:. The caller lives in New Westminster on Columbia Street and is 29 years old.. He wants to be called "Fleece Johnson."
The potential victim lives five houses down from him.
The potential victim is 26 years old and has no children.
He claims to have known the potential victim for five years.
He claims to have met the potential victim in a pub not far from his residence on Columbia Street.
The man also has a "distinct" accent, according to the release.
