The New Westminster Police Department and the New Westminster Salmonbellies went head-to-head Wednesday night in the second annual charity hockey game fundraiser, raising $1,800 for the Cops for Cancer campaign.

Despite the 10-3 loss, the NWPD Blues hockey team was pleased with the event, stating in a press release that the "real winner (of) the night, however, was Cops for Cancer."

The money raised goes towards national funding for pediatric cancer programs and research.

This year, NWPD constables Jaspaul Chunch and David Lemire will participate in the 900km Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast from Sept. 18 to 26.
