New Westminster police are looking for the public's help in identifying and locating two men who robbed a convenience store in the 900 block of 12th Street on March 9.

The incident occurred just after 11:20 p.m. and the police released these suspect descriptions: the first suspect is a First Nations man, approximately 6-0 tall, in his 20s, wearing a black hoodie with a bandana over his face and armed with a machete; the second suspect is a First Nations man, approximately 5-5 tall with a stocky build, wearing a black hoodie and bandana over his face, carrying a backpack and armed with a small knife.

Both men threatened the store staff and stole a number of items prior to fleeing in a silver vehicle.

At approximately 3 a.m. the next morning, members of the Vancouver Police Department observed a silver Honda Civic they suspected was connected to the New Westminster robbery.

Police soon discovered the car had been stolen in Burnaby. Police eventually found the car abandoned and shortly afterward, two men and a woman were arrested and turned over to New Westminster police.

After further investigation, all three were released without being charged.

New Westminster major crime unit detectives have now assumed control of this investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact Det.-Const. Greg Smith at 604-525-5411.
