The New Westminster Police Pipe Band will be attending the World Pipe Band Championships held on Glasgow Green in Scotland on Aug. 11.
Under the musical direction of pipe major Angus MacPherson and lead drummer Cam Dodson, the band continues to be a competitive force at the Grade 2 level, the second highest of eight levels. The band is the current North American champions and its seventh appearance at the world championships.
The band has finished in the top-four four times.
This year's competition features a total of 15 bands in the same heat as the New West Police Pipe band and 14 in the other heat, with six bands advancing from each heat to compete in the finals.
