A 19-year-old New Westminster man is facing firearms-related charges and a 21-year-old Surrey man has been charged with first-degree murder after a Sunday night Surrey shooting that resulted in the death of a 31-year-old Surrey man.
On Sunday night, just after 10:30 p.m, Surrey resident Kacey Rogers was fatally shot in his home in the 14000-block of Grosvenor Road.
According to an Integrated Homicide Investigation Team press release, Rogers was not known to police and appeared to be the victim of a targeted attack.
IHIT investigators, along with members of the New Westminster Police Service, Delta Police Department and several other Lower Mainland investigative and integrated units worked around the clock on the case and arrested two men on Tuesday.
Joshua Martinez, 19, of New Westminster has been charged with firearms-related offences and is due to make his first court appearance on March 2.
Russell Bidesi, 21, of Surrey has now been charged with first-degree murder and is due to make his first court appearance today.
IHIT Cpl. Adam MacIntosh said in a press release. "We are very pleased to be in a position to make this announcement, only a few days after Kacey's (death)," IHIT Cpl. Adam MacIntosh said in a press release.
"Although charges have been laid, this investigation remains in its early stages, will remain active and continue to progress."
